Overview
One file name can stall a whole sync
OneDrive and SharePoint reject some names that Windows allows. A name containing one of these characters, a leading or trailing space, or the sequence _vti_ will not sync, and it is easy to miss among hundreds of folders.
OneDriveSyncFixer finds these items in a single scan and explains why each one is a problem.
OneDriveSyncFixer is a Windows application that checks every file and folder name in a local folder against OneDrive and SharePoint naming rules.
Scanning is read-only: it never renames, deletes or uploads anything. Findings are grouped by type and priority, and a safe replacement name is suggested wherever one is possible.

What it does not do
- It does not sign in to Microsoft 365 or inspect cloud paths in SharePoint or OneDrive. Results show local risks, not every sync failure.
- Undo covers local names only and is best effort. It cannot reverse cloud sync or restore shared links.
- It is not a backup or cloud restore tool.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
- Are my files sent anywhere?
- No. Scanning happens on your computer, and file names and contents are never sent to a server. Only during Pro license operations are the license key, a check against the purchase email and a one-way hash of the device ID sent to the license provider, Lemon Squeezy.
- Does scanning change my files?
- No. Scanning never renames, deletes or uploads files. Changes happen only in Pro, after you review the preview and approve it.
- What is the difference between Free and Pro?
- Free runs unlimited scans and shows how many issues were found, their type and priority. Pro reveals the full name and path of each item, and adds batch renaming with a suggested name, undo and CSV/JSON reports.
- Does it fix every OneDrive sync error?
- No. It finds local problems caused by file and folder names. It does not diagnose account, storage quota, network or server errors.
- What happens to my license if I change computers?
- On the old computer, open “License & Plans” and choose “Release PC”, then activate on the new one. If you can no longer access the old device, contact support to reset the activation.
- Can I use it offline?
- Scanning needs no internet connection. Once Pro is activated, it works offline for up to 7 days, after which it needs to validate online again.
